Kathmandu, Sept. 10 -- In a major security breach, more than 500 inmates have escaped from the District Prison in Nawalparasi West, following a violent uprising inside the facility.

According to a post made on X by the official Kathmandu Post page it read, "Prisoners at the district jail in Nawalparasi West have escaped. Inside the prison, they set fires and raised slogans demanding release. Despite efforts to control them, most inmates managed to flee. The army, police, and armed police were deployed inside the prison to manage the situation. The facility held over 500 inmates."Security forces have since cordoned off the area and launched an extensive manhunt to track down the escaped prisoners.
