Madrid, Aug. 8 -- FC Barcelona defender Inigo Martinez is on the verge of completing a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr in one of the shock developments of the transfer window in Spain.

Barcelona sources have confirmed to the Barcelona-based sports papers, El Mundo Deportivo and Diario Sport that the 34-year-old, who has a contract until the end of June 2026, will be allowed to leave on a free transfer.

The loss of Martinez is a setback for Barcelona coach Hansi Flick in purely sporting terms, but once again the move seems to be conditioned by the delicate state of the club's economy.
