New Delhi, March 9 -- Domestic equity benchmarks witnessed sharp selling pressure in late-morning trade on Monday, with the BSE SENSEX and the NIFTY 50 tumbling more than two per cent amid broad-based declines across sectors.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was trading at 77,045.41, down 1,873.49 points or 2.37 per cent around 11:22 am IST, compared to the previous close of 78,918.90.

The benchmark opened sharply lower at 77,056.75 and slipped further during the session, touching an intraday high of 77,333.85 and a low of 76,424.55.

Similarly, the broader Nifty 50 index declined 585.85 points or 2.40 per cent to 23,864.60 around 11:23 am IST.
