New York, Sept. 3 -- Marketa Vondrousova, the 2023 Wimbledon champion, today withdrew from the US Open women's singles quarterfinal against Aryna Sabalenka, citing a knee injury.
With Vondrousova's withdrawal, defending champion Sabalenka advanced to the semifinals via walkover. She will now meet Jessica Pegula in a repeat of last year's final.
"I am sorry to announce that I have to withdraw from my quarterfinal match this evening due to a knee injury," Vondrousova said in a statement.
