Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 26 -- The Kerala Government's timely market interventions have contained the rise in prices of essential commodities in the State, even as inflation is surging across the country, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

"Kerala, being a consumer state, should have naturally faced sharp price escalation. However, through effective measures in the open market, especially to check the spiralling cost of coconut oil, we have succeeded in keeping prices under control," the Chief Minister said.

He noted that the market price of coconut oil had crossed Rs 500 per kg, but Supplyco's Sabari brand was being sold at Rs 349 per kg with subsidy and Rs 429 without subsidy. Further steps would be taken to ease the burden on househ...
