Mumbai, Oct. 6 -- Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil has launched a sharp attack on Sharad Pawar, chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction), alleging that Pawar had in 1994 diverted the Maratha community's rightful 16% reservation to the Other Backward Classes (OBC), depriving Marathas of their due rights.
This marks the first time Jarange has openly accused Pawar. "We will now secure our reservation with our own efforts. But the fact is we should have received it back in 1994. Sharad Pawar gave our rightful share to the OBCs. Yet the OBC community has not acknowledged his favour," Jarange said. He also accused OBC leaders of harming their own community's interests.
