Kannur, Aug. 17 -- Kerala's lone Olympic medalist and veteran hockey player Manuel Fredericks on Saturday said "he was very much happy to know that he has been recommended for Dhyan Chand award-2019."
Talking to UNI over phone from Bengaluru, Mr Fredericks said "this is the lucky year in my life as two dreams were fulfilled. One is the prestigious Dhyan Chand award recommendation and the other is the fullfilment of my dream to own a house at my native place in Kannur district."
The house was constructed by the Kerala Government as a gesture to the Olympian.
Mr Fredericks also got the chance to play hockey with two sons of Dhyan Chand, Ashok Kumar and Raj Kumar, in the Indian team.
