New Delhi, Feb. 20 -- Senior BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Thursday took oath as a minister in the Delhi government led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at the packed Ramlila Maidan here.

Born on February 12, 1972, Sirsa is a Member of the Delhi Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing Rajouri Garden. In the recently held Delhi Assembly elections, he secured victory by defeating AAP's Dhanwati Chandela with a margin of over 18,000 votes.

Sirsa is currently serving as the national secretary of the BJP. He has been an active political figure in Delhi, previously representing Rajouri Garden as an MLA in the 2017 bypolls on a BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) ticket.
