Imphal, Dec. 26 -- : As the year 2025 comes to a close, the situation in Manipur continues to be volatile. The year was marked by continued ethnic tensions, large-scale displacement, and sustained counter-insurgency operations.

Despite hi-profile visits by the President of India, the Prime Minister and other dignitaries to reassure people and bring lasting peace into the state, which has witnessed years of ethnic violence, such confidence-building measures are yet to translate into results on the ground.

Manipur, which has been under President's rule since February 2025, has seen concerted operations by security agencies to weed out criminal elements in the state.
