Imphal, Sept. 14 -- Manipur's women organisation Imagi Meira today said there was no reason why people were not able to move on the national highways yesterday when the Prime Minister was in the state.
A large number of women belonging to a particular community were stopped by security personnel yesterday.
"In such a situation there was no reason to attend the PM's event," said Thokchom Sujata of Imagi Meira.
Sujata also said the state BJP leadership failed to raise the issue of displaced persons and the inability to freely move on national highways during the visit, adding, though, "some BJP MLAs were speaking against the government."An agreement was signed with Kuki militants to open highways and stop violence.
