Imphal, Dec. 9 -- Manipur is preparing for President Droupadi Murmu's two-day visit on December 11 and 12.

Although there is no official statement from the government yet, a welcome gate has been erected near Kangla. Security has been tightened across Imphal as several militant groups have called for a boycott and a statewide shutdown. Restrictions are expected along key routes as authorities anticipate possible protests.

According to the proposed itinerary, President Murmu will attend a polo event at the historic Imphal Polo Ground on December 11.

The programme aims to highlight Manipur's deep connection with the sport, which originated in the state. Repair work at the Pologround is currently underway.
