Imphal, Jan. 12 -- Most petrol pumps and oil depots in Manipur remained closed for the third day on Monday as dealers protest rising security threats, bomb attacks, and extortion demands, fuelling a deepening fuel crisis in the northeastern state.

The Manipur Petroleum Dealers Fraternity (MPDF) announced on January 9 that petrol pumps would halt operations from January 10 until the government addresses safety and compensation concerns. The move follows a bomb explosion near a fuel station at Moirang in Bishnupur district, which dealers say, underscores persistent threats to their safety.
