Imphal, Aug. 13 -- Manipur today commemorated Patriots' Day, paying solemn tribute to the valiant patriots who laid down their lives defending the sovereignty of their motherland during the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891.

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla led the observance, joined by the First Lady, MLAs. The day began with floral tributes at Heecham Yaicham Pat, Moirangkhom, and Thangal Temple, Palace Compound. Later in the afternoon, the Governor and dignitaries attended a wreath-laying ceremony at Kangla Uttra.
