Imphal, Aug. 19 -- In a landmark ruling, the Manipur High Court has directed the state's educational boards, university, and medical council to issue fresh certificates to a transgender
doctor, reflecting her new name and gender, within one month.
The Court further ordered that provisions of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, particularly Sections 6 and 7, be incorporated into all existing laws, rules, and regulations governing state establishments, ensuring legal recognition of transgender persons' right to
update their name and gender in official records.
