Imphal, July 23 -- Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla has ordered that as a mark of respect
to the departed renowned playwright and theatre personality, Ratan Thiyam, a one day State
Mourning will be observed on July 24.
The National Flag will be flown at Half Mast on July 24, throughout the State and there will be no official entertainment on the day, said the order.
Manipur Art and Culture department said in a statement , "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Oja Ratan Thiyam on 23rd July, 2025, a visionary and masterful theatre Director and Playwright and one of the most eminent cultural Icons of the country."
