Imphal, Aug. 7 -- In a vibrant tribute to Manipur's rich weaving heritage, the state today celebrated National Handloom Day at the City Convention Centre, here, under the theme "Threads of Tradition: Weaving Culture Through Handlooms."

The event turned the spotlight firmly on the weavers of Manipur-most of them women-who form the backbone of the state's handloom legacy and rural economy.

Delivering the keynote address, Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel honoured the contribution of over 2.5 lakh handloom workers, emphasizing that their artistry is not only cultural but also an engine for economic growth and empowerment.
