Imphal, March 1 -- Manipur Assembly on Friday unanimously resolved to urge the Government of India to implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Manipur in the interest of the State in particular and of the Nation in general.
A Private Member Resolution was moved by Leishiyo Keishing which was changed to a government resolution.
Keishing said in his constituency Kambing more than 5000 people were found during a drive to take biometrics of immigrants from Myanmar.
Lots of people from Myanmar came to Manipur due to unrest in Myanmar. The population of indigenous population has declined he added.
