Jiribam, Sept. 19 -- To curb disturbances and ensure road safety, the Jiribam Municipal Council (JMC) has issued an order prohibiting cattle owners from allowing their livestock to roam freely on public roads and other areas within its jurisdiction.
The council announced that violators will face legal action under Section 179 of the Manipur Municipalities Act, 1994, in addition to penalties under the Cattle Trespass Act, 1871.
The order comes in response to frequent complaints regarding stray cattle causing inconvenience to the public, obstructing vehicular movement, and posing risks of road accidents.
