Pune, Sept. 27 -- Cardiologists at Manipal Hospital, Kharadi Pune, performed a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) along with a balloon-assisted BASILICA procedure on a 70-year-old woman.
The patient was suffering from severe aortic stenosis along with several other health conditions.
She had a history of obesity, hypertension, hypothyroidism, COPD, and OSA.
Due to severe aortic valve stenosis, she experienced shortness of breath and chest pain. Open-heart valve replacement surgery carried a very high risk of death or serious complications in her case.
