Lucknow, Sept. 10 -- A 48-year-old man today set himself on fire outside the Samajwadi Party (SP) state headquarters in Gautampalli area of the state capital Lucknow, police said here.
Police said that a bottle containing an inflammable substance had also been recovered from the man's pocket.
"People present on the spot tried to extinguish the fire, but by then he was severely burnt. The police, who arrived after receiving the information, somehow extinguished the fire by wrapping the youth in a blanket and admitted him to the civil hospital," they said.
Lucknow Police said that the youth has been identified as Yogendra alias Bobby, a resident of Aligarh. "He had come to Lucknow with his brother Guddu and a woman he knew from the village...
