Gadchiroli, Dec. 24 -- A lower court in Maharashtra on Wednesday sentenced a man to death for brutally murdering a three-year-old child while assaulting the kid's mother over eight years back.
Sanju Vishwanath Sarkar, who choked the child to death by pressing his mouth, was given the capital punishment by the Additional Sessions Court in Aheri.
The heart-wrenching incident occurred on the midnight of June 19, 2017, at Kanchanpur in Mulchera taluka. The victim woman was at home with her three-year-old son, while her husband had gone to Andhra Pradesh for work.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Sanju Sarkar, who lived next door, entered the house around 2 O'clock in the night and assaulted the woman.
