Lucknow, Dec. 6 -- A man posing as a senior Home Department official at the Uttar Pradesh Secretariat has allegedly defrauded two brothers of Rs 40 lakh by promising government tenders and jobs. The fraud came to light after the victims filed a formal complaint, prompting police to launch an investigation.
According to the complaint, Dehradun resident Itesh Kumar met the accused, identified as Sarvesh, in July 2024 at a rented house in Vinit Khand, Gomtinagar. Sarvesh allegedly claimed to be a Home Department Secretary and moved around in a Swift Dzire, Aura and Scorpio- each displaying the Uttar Pradesh government emblem.
