Man kills his 3 children, later commits suicide in AP

Nandyal (AP), Jan. 1 -- In a shocking incident, a man killed his three children and later committed suicide at Thodumudinne village of Uyyalavada mandal of the district in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.

Sub-inspector Rami Reddy said Vemulapati Surendra gave soft drink laced with poison to his two daughters and son in his house. After drinking pesticide-laced soft drink, three children Kavyasri (7), Jnaneswari (4) and Surya Gagan (2) died.

Later Surendra (35) ended his life by hanging himself to the ceiling fan.

The SI said Surendra's wife Maheshwari died on August 16 last year due to ill health. After her death, Surendra lost his mental balance. A pall of gloom descended on the village with the death of the man and his three children.
