Balrampur, Nov. 13 -- A man was killed in a suspected wild animal attack in the Bhahbar range of the Sohelwa forest area, police said today.

According to Circle Officer Jitendra Kumar, the deceased was identified as Vikai Lal Gautam (45), a resident of Pipra Sarwa village. He had gone towards the forest and did not return, prompting his family and villagers to begin a search on Tuesday evening.

During the search, villagers discovered a mutilated body, which they suspected had been partially eaten by a tiger. Police said the animal fled deeper into the forest after locals raised an alarm.
