Kannauj, Sept. 20 -- A tense hostage situation gripped Kashiram Colony in the Chhibramau area of Kannauj district on Friday, when a man held a young boy hostage for nearly seven hours inside a residential home.
The man, identified as Deepu Chak from Salemapur village under Talgram police station limits, was demanding to meet a woman he claims to have married. The child, reportedly the son of the woman, was safely rescued by police after a prolonged operation.
According to police, Deepu had developed a close relationship with Archana, a resident of Kashiram Colony, who lost her husband two years ago and has been raising her three children alone.
