New Delhi, March 29 -- A man was held by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) for allegedly smuggling and supplying protected wildlife species, including a large number of parrots, in Sitapur district.

According to officials, the accused was apprehended following specific intelligence inputs about an inter-state wildlife trafficking network.

During the operation, the STF team recovered as many as 803 parrots that were being transported in cages and bags under inhumane conditions.

Police said the accused was actively involved in illegal wildlife trade and used to source protected bird species from forest areas before supplying them across multiple states for profit. The recovered birds were reportedly meant to be transported further...
