Mumbai, May 29 -- Police detained a 39-year-old man after he threatened to set himself on fire outside the official residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in south Mumbai, officials said on Thursday.
The man, identified as Ajit Maidagi from Solapur district, arrived at the CM's residence, 'Varsha', carrying a bottle containing 100 ml of petrol. According to officials, he was upset over unresolved work at the Mantralaya (state secretariat). Police intervened before he could carry out his threat and took him into custody.
Maidagi was subsequently taken to Malabar Hill police station, where a case was registered against him. Police also provided him with counselling following the incident. UNI AAA SSP
