Bahraich (UP), Sept. 12 -- Panic has gripped Bahraich district again as a suspected man-eating wolf claimed its second victim in 48 hours. A 3-month-old baby girl was taken away from her mother's arms in the dead of night in Bhawari Bahorwa village, under Mahsi police station limits.
Local sources said the infant, Sandhya, was sleeping with her mother Rani in the verandah of their house around 3 am today when the wild animal struck. In a swift attack, the wolf reportedly grabbed the baby and disappeared into nearby fields.
The mother raised an alarm, and within minutes, family members and villagers gathered with sticks and torches, attempting to trace the animal. Despite their efforts, the darkness hampered their search.
