Bahraich, Oct. 16 -- The reign of terror by a man-eating wolf that had gripped Bahraich district finally came to an end this morning, as a trained shooter from the Forest Department shot and killed the predator in an encounter.
According to officials, the wolf had attacked a woman and two children in a village last night, sparking panic among residents.
The Forest Department was immediately alerted, and a team led by former Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ajit Pratap Singh reached the site to carry out an overnight search operation.
Despite efforts to capture the animal alive, the team was unsuccessful during the night.
