Bahraich, Nov. 16 -- A man-eating wolf that had terrorized villages in Bahraich was shot dead by a Forest Department team on Saturday evening.
Officials confirmed that the animal, responsible for carrying off a three-year-old girl two days earlier, was killed after it attempted to flee during an operation.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ram Singh Yadav said the wolf was located around 4 p.m. on Saturday, nearly one kilometer from Lodhan Purwa village.
"The team first tried to capture it alive. But when it began to run, we had no choice but to shoot. The bullet hit its waist, and it died on the spot," Yadav said.
