New Delhi, Dec. 24 -- A 35-year-old man, who had been evading arrest for almost two years after assaulting his landlords over a rent dispute in Delhi's Jamia Nagar, was held, police said on Wednesday.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Irfan, from Delhi's Zakir Nagar, was arrested in his hometown of Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, following ongoing surveillance and intelligence gathering.
"The case came to light on February 29, 2024, when the complainant reported that her tenant had not paid rent and refused to vacate the property," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Aditya Gautam.
The officer stated that when the woman asked for the rent, the accused, along with his associates, reportedly attacked her and her husband.
