Kolkata, Aug. 29 -- Police today arrested a suspect accused of killing his step mother at the industrial Leather Complex at Karaidanga (Bantala) in the eastern part of the city.
The accused, identified as Rohit Gazi, allegedly hacked to death his step mother Bilkis Bidi (28), close to her workplace in the Leather Complex yesterday evening when she came out from the factory after ending duty hours, police said.
Her husband, Karim Gazi, who heard cries, rushed out from his factory nearby and found Bilkis Bibi lying in a pool of blood. He immediately took her to a nearby nursing home and then rushed to the SSKM hospital, where the medics declared her dead. Both are the employees of two different tanneries in the Leather Complex.
