Shillong, Aug. 11 -- A 40-year-old man is suspected to have accidentally shot himself in the head with a service pistol of his police friend during a picnic at Syntu Ksiar in Meghalaya's West Jaintia Hills district on Sunday evening, police said today.
The victim identified as Wanda-O Najiar was drunk at the time of the incident. Najiar is now admitted to a private-run hospital to nurse his bullet injury.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya Police have initiated departmental action against Sub-Inspector Wewanroy Challam, the Second Officer-in-Charge of Nartiang Police Station, for not taking proper care of his service pistol.
