Siliguri, Oct. 6 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today visited the flood-ravaged Nagrakata in the Dooars of north Bengal district of Jalpaiguri and met the family members of those who died and distributed cheques of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin.

She also took stock of the situation after talking to the people in the tea belt area where the Kalikhola bridge also collapsed in the flood in Nagrakata block. At a makeshift camp she interacted with the affected people and distributed cheques to the survivors of those five killed in the deluge at Bamandanga tea garden.

A two-year-old baby also died by drowning.
