Kolkata, April 22 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Tuesday that she will visit Murshidabad in the first week of May to assess the situation on the ground.

Addressing the recent riots in Murshidabad, she described the incidents as "unfortunate," stating, "The violence occurred in two wards and was instigated by some outsiders with the support of a few local individuals. We will identify and expose those responsible."

Speaking at a public event to inaugurate a 125 MW solar photovoltaic plant in Goaltore, West Medinipur district, the chief minister added, "We have sanctioned Rs 10 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives in the violence.
