Kolkata, Oct. 4 -- With the inauguration of Birla Opus Paint manufacturing unit by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kharagpur next week, the Aditya Birla Group is set to launch its formal operation of its new paint factory in early part of next year, official sources said today.
Banerjee is slated to open the factory in Kharagpur's Vidyasagar Industrial Park on October 9 in presence of Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla and Birla Opus Paints CEO Rakshit Hargave.
The plant is being set up with an initial cost of Rs 1000 crore and employs some 2000 direct and indirect job opportunities, will manufacture a range of products, including water-based and solvent-based decorative paints, wood finishes, and wallpapers.
