Kolkata, Dec. 9 -- In a sharp escalation of her confrontation with the Centre over the rural jobs programme, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee publicly tore up a Central government communication related to the 100-day work scheme during a rally in Cooch Behar on Tuesday.
Calling the conditions imposed under the new labour code "humiliating" and "an insult," she declared that Bengal would not accept the directives and would continue to run the programme on its own terms.
