Kolkata, Dec. 18 -- : Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee strongly criticised the removal of Mahatma Gandhi's name from the national rural employment programme on Thursday, saying she felt "ashamed" that the Father of the Nation's name no longer featured in the scheme that was originally associated with him.

Speaking at a business conclave, Banerjee said, "Gandhiji's name is not there. I am feeling ashamed. I cannot blame anyone. I only blame myself because I am a citizen of this country."Targeting the BJP, the Chief minister said the removal of Mahatma's name from the flagship programme is a gross gross disrespect to the Father of the Nation.
