Kolkata, April 6 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday over his alleged silence following controversial remarks by Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif.
Addressing an election rally in Bethuadahari in Nadia ahead of the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026, Banerjee questioned why the Prime Minister had not responded to what she described as a direct threat to Kolkata.
"When Pakistan's Defence Minister speaks about targeting Kolkata, why has the Prime Minister not said a word about it during his visit to Bengal?" she asked.
