Kolkata, March 11 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday categorically said that she would oppose the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the state if it discriminates against any community or people.

"I will give you details of our stand on the CAA once the notification is issued and we go through it on Tuesday,' Banerjee told a media conference at Nabanna, the state secretariat.

She also questioned the move of the central government just before the parliament elections in the country.

Banerjee, who is also the ruling Trinamool Congress Chairperson, said "The CAA is a gimmick by the BJP to show off and indeed a lollipop just before the poll".
