Kolkata, Oct. 8 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today strongly criticised the Election Commission of India's (ECI) Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise of electoral rolls, saying it was ill-timed as the state is currently dealing with natural calamities and the ongoing festive season.
An ECI team, headed by Deputy Election Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti, who arrived last night, began reviewing the preparedness for the SIR at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in Kolkata today.
