Kolkata, May 9 -- On the day West Bengal's first BJP government was sworn in, former Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chairperson Mamata Banerjee on Saturday alleged that permission for organising Rabindranath Tagore's birth anniversary celebrations at three venues had been denied, forcing her to hold the programme at her residence in Kalighat.

Speaking during the Rabindra Jayanti celebrations at her home in south Kolkata's Kalighat, Banerjee claimed that organisers from the TMC also faced difficulties in arranging logistical support for the event.
