Jalpaiguri, Sept. 10 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee instructed all the district administrations to ensure that Aadhaar cards are prepared for those who do not yet possess the document, through the state's Duare Sarkar project.

The instruction came just days after the Supreme Court recognized Aadhaar as a legitimate document for the inclusion of names in the voters' list.

During a government programme here today, Banerjee said, "I will ask the District Magistrates to arrange Aadhaar cards through Duare Sarkar for those who don't have it."While the remark was addressed directly to the Jalpaiguri administration, officials believe it was intended as a message to all districts.
