Kolkata, July 15 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today held the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) responsible for what she described as the "abnormal" release of water from its barrages, which she said had triggered flooding across several parts of the state.

After a high-level review meeting with officials and a video conference with district magistrates of the flood-affected regions, Banerjee said she had urged DVC authorities to immediately halt further water release.
