Kolkata, March 20 -- Launching a blistering attack on the BJP and the Election Commission of India, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday alleged a "deep conspiracy" to undermine democracy in the state ahead of the elections.
Speaking from her residence in South Kolkata's Kalighat before unveiling the Trinamool Congress manifesto, Banerjee accused the poll body of carrying out an "unprecedented" reshuffle of top administrative and police officers at the behest of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
She claimed that the situation in Bengal was equivalent to a "declared President's Rule," imposed without formal announcement.
