Kolkata, Jan. 27 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee appealed to people to maintain peace and communal harmony on Tuesday, warning that some sections may try to incite riots for electoral gains.

Emphasising Bengal's long tradition of coexistence among people of all religions, she urged citizens not to fall prey to provocation.

"Some people try to create riots for votes. But we are here 365 days. Do not fall into provocation. Everyone should live in peace," Banerjee said, reiterating that people of all faiths have lived together in West Bengal since Independence.
