Kolkata, April 26 -- West Bengal chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday announced an ex-gratia payment Rs 25000 and Rs 20000 respectively for Group C and Group D staff from the 2016 School Service Commission panel who lost their jobs following a Supreme Court order earlier this month in connection with the cash-for-jobs scam.
"The state government has decided to pay Rs 25,000 to the Group-C staff and Rs 20,000 to the Group-D staff. They have to tell me if they agree to it. We had done similar ex gratia payment of Rs 10,000 to the workers of Dunlop for many years," Banerjee said in a phone call while the protesting staff representatives were having a meeting with chief secretary Monoj Pant.
