Patna, April 25 -- The Bihar government has launched 'Makhana Development Scheme' for the financial year 2026-27, offering significant financial assistance to farmers engaged in makhana cultivation, officials said.

Set up under the National Makhana Board, the scheme aims to provide substantial subsidies across the entire value chain from production to processing and marketing, strengthening the foxnut sector and enhancing farmers' income.

The initiative will facilitate a financial assistance of up to Rs 71,600 to farmers for makhana production, enabling them to adopt modern techniques and improve yield.
