Jakarta, July 1 -- More than 60% of Indonesians would support Russia in a hypothetical scenario of a world war in which Moscow and Washington would find themselves on opposite sides of the barricades, a poll by Indonesian National Survey Media (Median) showed.

"Up to 60.2% of respondents support Russia if they have to choose a side in a conflict with the United States, while only 19% support the United States. This shows an interesting public geopolitical position that needs to be studied in more detail," Median CEO Rico Marbun said in a statement on Monday, adding that the negative perception of the US may be related to the country's geopolitical position in the conflict in the Middle East.
