Kolkata, Dec. 5 -- A major fire broke out at a chemical godown on the ground floor of a multi-storied building in the densely populated Gulshan Colony area of Anandapur in eastern Kolkata. No casualties have been reported so far, official sources said.

According to sources, residents safely evacuated the building before firefighting vehicles arrived, preventing any casualties. Two fire trucks were deployed to tackle the blaze, which was first noticed around 10 pm, sending thick black smoke across the locality.
